BLUEFIELD —
Jeffrey Richard Gray will take over as general manager of the Bluefield Blue Jays on Oct. 1, according to an announcement Saturday by George McGonagle, president of the Bluefield Baseball Club.
The club runs Bowen Field and operates the Blue Jays, Toronto’s entry in the Appala-chian League.
Gray, a native of Auburn, N.Y., began his career as a batboy for the Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League. He rose through the ranks to become a special assistant to the general manager.
He has also held positions in the sports information office of Saint Leo University in Florida and the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin, Fla.
Earlier this year he served as associate general manager of the U.S. Military All-Stars’ “Red White and Blue Tour” promoting support for the U.S. armed forces and wounded warriors.
