KINGSPORT, Tenn. —
Andrew Toles collected a double, a home run and three RBIs Monday night to lead the Princeton Rays’ 13-hit attack in a 9-1 beatdown of the Kingsport Mets at Hunter Wright Field.
The Rays got started in the top of the first with Ariel Soriano hitting a single and Toles following with his fifth professional home run.
Princeton took a 3-0 lead into the fifth and scored five more runs in the frame, which included RBI doubles by Toles and Darryl George.
Blake Snell pitched the first five innings for the Rays and took his fifth win in six decisions. He gave up just two hits, walked one and struck out five. William Gabay allowed two hits and no runs in two innings. Christopher Kirsch finished out the final two innings.
The Mets got their lone run in the eighth when Yeixon Ruiz singled and came home on Jonathan Leroux’s two-out double.
Kingsport starter Andrew Massie (0-2) was saddled with the loss after surrendering nine hits and seven earned runs in four innings.
The Rays return to Hunnicutt Field today to begin the final three games of the Mercer Cup Series with neighboring Bluefield.
