VIENNA —
Sophomore Alyanna James scored a goal in overtime to lead the Concord University women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win at Ohio Valley University Saturday.
The victory, Concord’s fifth consecutive win, improves the Mountain Lions’ record to 6-6-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The loss drops Ohio Valley’s overall record to 2-12-0 and its WVIAC record to 0-7-0.
The Mountain Lions successfully defended four Ohio Valley shot attempts in the final minutes of the second half, but none of their own three shots were able to find the back of the net as the half came to a close with the scored tied at 1-1.
At 6:05 into overtime James was able score off of a one-on-one opportunity to earn the win and keep Concord’s winning streak alive. The score was her second game-winning goal of the year.
Concord plays next Oct. 16, hosting West Liberty.

Seton Hill 2, Concord 1
ATHENS — A two-goal halftime deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Concord University men’s soccer team lost, 2-1, to Seton Hill Saturday at Anderson Field.
For the game, Concord (3-10-1, 3-3-1 WVIAC) held a 7-3 advantage over Seton Hill (3-10-1, 3-3-1 WVIAC) in corners while being outshot by the Griffins 13-12.
Ryan Forde had two shots and scored his third goal of the season to lead Concord. Tyler Farrar assisted on Forde’s score and Isaac Jordan matched Forde with two shots of his own.
Seton Hill’s Joe Tchimou and Harry Jawanda scored goals at 26:01 and 41:33 in the opening half to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
CU drew a corner at the 53:52 mark in the period that led to Farrar finding Forde for a score, cutting the SHU lead to just one goal.
The Mountain Lions close out their home schedule Oct. 19 against King College.
