WINFIELD —
Ryan Meadows scored 26 points and Princeton held off a strong Winfield surge to beat the Generals 63-57 to chalk up a very important road win on Tuesday night.
After trailing 18-16 after one period, Princeton asserted control by outscoring Winfield 13-7 in the second quarter. Meadows scored eight points during that frame and the Tigers led 29-25 at intermission.
Princeton’s lead would grow to 19 points halfway through the third period before Winfield, behind Zach Fisher, mounted a comeback.
The Generals, unbeaten entering the game, scored 10 unanswered to cut the Princeton lead to 47-37. A John Bellomy 3 brought Winfield to within four 56-52 with 1:49 left.
The Tigers hit 4-of-6 foul shots and added an Aaron Ferguson layup to preserve the win.
Hunter Walters added 14 points for Princeton, joining Meadows with a trio of 3. The Tigers finished with 7 3s in the game.
Winfield was paced by Fisher with 26 points and 13 by Chris Turner.
Princeton returns to action on Thursday by entertaining Nitro.
