EAST RIVER —
The Graham G-Girls scored on a trio of long breakaways on Friday afternoon at Field 4 of the East River Soccer Complex, defeating the Giles Spartans 3-1 to stay perfect on the soccer season.
Liz Workman scored two goals and assisted on the third. Her first ball into the net occurred about 15 minutes into the match. Jessie Lewis made it 2-0 off of Workman’s assist, and the score remained that way through halftime.
Giles got its lone goal on a penalty kick by Holly Fontaine, closing the gap to 2-1. Graham keeper Karly Morgan got a hand on Fontaine’s scoring attempt but could not quite save it out of the goal. Workman netted the insurance score.
Each breakaway covered approximately 30 yards, starting with balls sent over a pushed-up Giles defense.
Morgan made four saves in goal for the G-Girls, whose record is now 2-0 this year.
Graham hosts Richlands on Tuesday evening at East River.
