BLAND, Va. —
Asher Dillow connected on five three-point shots in the first quarter to help the Bland County Bears to a 24-14 lead after eight minutes, and the Bears gobbled up the Panthers 80-58 Monday night on the Bland High School court.
Dillow scored 24 of his 34 points before halftime. He also had five assists, three rebounds and three steals. Chase Hankins chipped in 15 points, four rebounds and an assist, and Darryl Clark scored 14 for the Bears (6-1), who sank nine treys overall.
Jason Prater led Northwood with 26 points.
Bland County travels to Eastern Montgomery tonight with the JV game starting at 5:30.

PRINCETON — Mercer Christian Academy increased a 25-19 halftime lead by scoring 23 points in the third quarter Monday, then held on in the fourth to defeat their visitors.
Caleb Janning had three three-point goals on his way to 17 points for the Cavaliers, now 6-1 on the season. Jonathan Easter contributed 12 points.
Jefferson Christian got 12 points from Austin Testerman and 11 each from Justin Weaver and Lucas Reed.
Mercer Christian travels to Montcalm this evening for a 7:30 game.

LINDSIDE — James Monroe won its fifth straight game, all in a seven-day period, on Monday night, jumping out to a 20-10 halftime lead on neighboring Giles.
Carter Shiflet led the Lady Mavericks’ stats with 18 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Page had nine assists and seven points.
Giles hosts Christiansburg today. James Monroe trvels to Independence on Thursday.
