BECKLEY —
Alec White notched a hat trick and eight of his PikeView High School teammates also got in on the scoring as the Panthers defeated Independence High 14-1 in boys soccer action on Monday night in Beckley.
PikeView (8-6-2), ranked 11th in Class AA-A soccer this week, got two goals each from Nick Coker and Nathaniel Ellis, and single goals from Norman Cole, Jason Weitzel, Gene Weatherly, Austin Cordell, Brandon Calfee and Josiah Bailey.
Cole had three assists; Weatherly, Bailey and Quinton Brown each had two assists; and Isaac Harrison and Coker provided one assist each.
Independence’s Caleb Pell scored the Patriots’ goal.
PikeView goalkeepers Cordell and Ted White split time in front of the net. They combined for three saves. Patriots goalkeeper Steven Leach had 18 saves.
PikeView plays at Midland Trail today at 5 p.m. with the girls match at about 7 p.m.
