BLUEFIELD — Kyle Harris and Damian Price each fired in 17 points and Craig Ponder added 12 as the Bluefield Beavers claimed a 71-59 win over the Westside Renegades, on Monday night at Ned Shott Gymnasium.
Bluefield got the first bucket of the game but Westside quickly followed to knot the game at two. Zack Helmandollar’s trey but the Renegades up 5-2 before the Beavers rolled off six unanswered to take an 8-5 lead. Bluefield led by one, 13-12 at the end of the first eight minutes.
In the second period Bluefield used pressure defense and fast break offense to open a nine point lead. Westside, however, closed it to six at the half on a three by Dylan Newsome with seconds.
Bluefield came out smoking to start the second half. Damian Price had the hot hand scoring and on the boards. The Beavers opened a 15 point lead before Westside closed the gap to seven.
Bluefield responded and pushed the lead as high as 17 before claiming the 12-point victory.
Justin Tilley led Westside with 13 points. Dylan Newsome, Helmandollar and Caron finished with 10 each.
Bluefield, now 11-3, plays tonight at PikeView. The Renegades drop to 5-11 with the loss.
