BLUEFIELD — Bluefield High School's Craig Ponder was honored as a candidate for the McDonald’s All-American basketball team prior to tipoff of Monday’s game between Bluefield and Westside.
The presentation was made in a pregame ceremony by Delores Thompson, a manager at the Bluefield McDonald’s. She presented a plaque to Ponder in recognition of his achievement.
Joining Ponder at midcourt were his mother Sarah and his stepdad Anthony Walton.
The final 20-man McDonald's All-American team will be announced later this month.
