Prep roundup and polls: Gravely reaches 1,000

BLUEFIELD — Shay Gravely passed the 1,000-point mark on Monday night as the Bluefield Beavers ran away from the Montcalm Lady Generals, taking a 54-31 intracounty victory at Bluefield High School.

The Beavers were in control for the first three quarters, enjoying a 33-9 lead at halftime.

Gravely had 21 points for Bluefield. Tara Havens led Montcalm with 14 points.

The Beavers are scheduled to host Nicholas County tonight.

IAEGER — The Iaeger Lady Cubs have only two losses this season, both delivered by the Gilbert Lions. The Cubs had the lead in the final three minutes but Gilbert went to the foul line late and escaped with a six-point win.

Crystal Lester led all scorers with 30 points for the Lions.

Iaeger’s top scorers were Ali Carlan and Danielle McClanahan, each with 12 points. McClanahan had 12 rebounds and blocked two shots. Carlan provided seven rebounds, and Ashley Gibson had six. Bethany Justus had five steals.

Iaeger is scheduled to be at Montcalm Tuesday.

HINTON — Summers County nailed seven three-pointers in a makeup game that turned into a rout.

Hallie Gunnoe had 19 points and six assists for the Lady Bobcats, the No. 1 team in Class AA. Leslie Mack led the scoring with 24.

PikeView’s top point producer was Danielle Compton with 15, including a pair of treys.

Summers County plays Wednesday night at James Monroe.

IAEGER — Trevor Kennedy connected on five three-pointers and scored 19 points to help the Iaeger Cubs to a home victory Monday over Greater Beckley Christian.

Landon Hurley had 15 points and dished seven assists in the win. Jeff Johnson added 13 points and six rebounds, while Tyler Walker also cleared six boards. Ryan Garrett had five steals. Lawrence Morgan chipped in two dunks.

The Cubs are scheduled to play Wednesday at Man and Thursday at Phelps, Ky.

OAK HILL — Kaliff Wright led the third-ranked Red Devils in the win with a game-high 26 points, while Jack Flournoy added 25 points.

Tommy Symns had 18 points to lead PikeView, ranked fifth in Class AA, while Jordan Weitzel had 17 points. Tanner Ratcliff added 13 points, while Cole Calfee contributed 10 points.

PikeView is scheduled to play Thursday at Winfield.
