Darryl Clark scored the 1,000th point of his career, and the Bland County Bears improved to 2-1 with a 79-48 win over Rural Retreat on Tuesday night at Bland High School.
Asher Dillow led the Bears with 24 points, while Clark added 15. Tyler Faulkner tallied 13 points and 10 by John Miller.
Clark reached the 1,000 point plateau with a 3-point shot at the 4:54 mark of the first quarter.
Dillow added eight steals, six rebounds and four assists, while Chase Hankins contributed five rebounds and two assists.
Jay Linkous and Tanner Bryant led the Indians with nine points apiece.
Bland County travels Friday to Northwood.

NARROWS, Va. — The Narrows Green Wave captured its first win of the new season on its home court Tuesday night, jumping out to a 15-5 lead after one quarter and taking a 25-12 lead into halftime. Bench players took the court for the majority of the second half.
Rodney Perdue and Kelly Dent led Narrows (1-2) with 10 points each. Top scorer for Montcalm was Jacob Howard with eight points.
Narrows continues a three-game week tonight by hosting Rural Retreat, followed by a county rivalry match at Giles on Friday.

Wesley Peck and Greg Stacy led the Rebels with 15 points apiece.
