PARKERSBURG —
The Parkersburg High girls basketball team ended the Princeton Tigerettes’ five-game winning streak on Saturday, taking a 68-54 win in a game that had been postponed due to weather.
McKenzie Akers scored 26 points, handed out six assists and grabbed five steals for Princeton (13-3). Khadija Payne secured 11 rebounds. Princeton made 7 of 25 three-point tries but shot 37 percent from the floor and went 5 for 7 from the foul line.
Parkersburg made 14 of 20 free throws and shot 44 percent from the floor. Six-foot senior Imani Ward had 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while Haley Akerman made all four of the Big Reds’ three-pointers and went 4 for 4 at the foul line for 20 points.
Princeton scored more than 12 points in only one quarter, and trailed at halftime 37-19.
Princeton plays at Summers County on Tuesday. The Tigerettes beat the Bobcats 59-44 on Jan. 22 in Princeton.
