ST. PAUL, Va. —
he Graham wrestling team improved to 30-1 on the season, finishing in a three-tie for first place at the Eastside Duals on Saturday at St. Paul High School.
Dustin Hagerman (113 pounds), Aaron Thompson (160), Kyshon Lee (170) Robert Compton (195) and Everett Vest (215) all earned first place finishes for Graham, finishing 5-0 in a Virginia vs. Kentucky format.
Hagerman improved to 35-1 on the season.
Graham, Lee High and Eastside all finished 5-0 as teams. John Battle and Virginia High were 2-3.
Three Kentucky schools, Belfry, Peery County and Whitley County were 2-3, as was J.I. Burton, from Norton, Va., which replaced a Kentucky team that didn’t participate. Letcher County was 1-4 in the event.
Levi Stroupe (3-2) and Aaron Vest (2-0) were co-winners at 182 pounds.
Second place finishers for Graham included Shane Hudson (4-1, 120), Tristin Evans (126, 4-1) and Austin Miller (132, 4-1). Third place went to the G-Men’s Jacob Evans (145, 3-2), Dakota Byrd (152, 3-2) and Colin Beavers (285, 3-2).
Graham will host a Mountain Empire District tri-match with Fort Chiswell and Grayson County on Tuesday.
The annual Graham Invitational Duals will be held at Graham High School on Saturday, with the first matches beginning at 10 a.m. The event is slated to include five teams each from Virginia and West Virginia.
