HILLSVILLE, Va. —
Bland County senior Josh Goodman captured the boys individual title at the Mountain Empire District cross country meet held on Wednesday.
Goodman ran the 3.1 mile course in a time of 16.00. Graham’s Brandon Carroll earned All-MED honors by finishing 10th, having been clocked at 18:38.
Grayson County won the boys team title with 35 points, and will be joined in Region C action next Wednesday at Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol, Va., by Galax (43), Bland County (71) and Graham (96). Narrows placed fifth with 104 points.
Other Graham male runners included Scott Ford (16th, 19:37), Tanner Winesett (17th, 19:42), John Dudeck (25th, 21:04), Ian MacNaughton (33rd, 22:02), Aaron Thompson (36th, 22:40) and Mallie Giampocaro (38th, 23:02).
Ashley Jordan of Galax earned the girls title with a time of 20:29. Grayson County won the team title with 26 points, followed by the Maroon Tide with 39.
Graham freshman Kristen Compton placed ninth by running the 3.1 miles in 23:01, and also qualified for Region C action next week at Sugar Hollow.
Michael Franklin of Graham was third in the eighth grade race to earn All-MED honors.
