BLUEFIELD —
Mail a Christmas card and donate to a local animal shelter. At least that is what Bluefield post officer workers Miriam Lewis and Mary Beth Price hope customers will do this week during the Sixth Annual Prerogative Shelter Drive.
The Bluefield Post Office on Cumberland Road will set up a drop-off box inside the lobby for customers to drop off food, toys and blankets. This will add a third drop-off site for the Prerogative shelter drive.
The shelter drive benefits five organizations across the region: the Mercer County Animal Shelter, McDowell County Humane Society, Tazewell County Animal Shelter, Pet Haven Rescue Center and Save-A-Pet Food Bank.
The post office will accept donations between the hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m., until Friday, Dec. 14. Food, toys and blankets can also be delivered to either the Bluefield Daily Telegraph or Princeton Times offices during regular business hours, until Friday, Dec. 14. For more information on the shelter drive call 304-327-2800.
