BLUEFIELD —
A flood watch remains in effect this morning for much of the region, and a winter storm watch has been issued for Thursday for Tazewell, Bland, Giles, Wythe and Mercer counties.
The winter storm watch is in effect from Thursday morning through late Thursday night. Forecasters are calling for the potential for heavy snow with up to six inches of snowfall possible by Thursday evening. Although the track of the storm is still being determined at this time, the heaviest snowfall is expected in the mountains.
The flood watch is currently scheduled to expire at 11 a.m. this morning. Many creeks across the region are high, but no significant flooding has been reported at this point.
