PRINCETON —
Police in Mercer County are investigating a pair of bomb threats this morning, which led to evacuations at Princeton Senior High School and the Mercer County Courthouse.
Students were evacuated from the high school for approximately 40 minutes while officers with the Princeton Police Department searched the school. No device was found. Students were allowed back into the school at 8:50 a.m., according to Rick Ball, an assistant school superintendent for Mercer County Schools.
Ball said officials remain on alert in light of the school shooting massacre in Connecticut.
“Anytime you have an incident — unfortunately — you have those who want to take advantage of it,” Ball said. “Your awareness is raised anytime there is a tragedy. But the public needs to be reminded that any interruption to a school is a serious charge. We will prosecute (those who are guilty of the crime) to the fullest extent.”
A second bomb threat also led to an evacuation of the Mercer County Courthouse this morning.
Both threats are being investigated by the Princeton Police Department.
