PRINCETON —
The Mercer County Development Authority has received $30,000 in grant funding to help expand broadband access and promote economic investment in the area.
A $30,000 broadband technical assistance grant was presented to the county Wednesday though the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey for a project titled Map Mercer County. The project will help the county to map and record utility infrastructure around the county, including broadband access. The utility map will allow business and government entities to see what resources are available throughout the county.
Janet Bailey, executive director of the Mercer County Development Authority, said broadband access is now as important as electric and water infrastructure to business looking to set up shop in the area. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2013.
