AFTERNOON UPDATE: Last wave of local soldiers due back in West Virginia this afternoon

BLUEFIELD — The last wave of the Army National Guard’s 150th Armored Reconnaissance Squadron and 230th Forward Support Company are due back in West Virginia today.

A plane carrying the remaining 90 soldiers from Mercer and McDowell counties is due at Yeager Airport around 1:30 p.m. today, according to family members of the local soldiers awaiting their return home.

The troops have been deployed in Iraq since April 2009.
