Attorneys in murder case ask for psychological evaluation
TAZEWELL, Va. —
Defense attorneys for a Pocahontas man accused of second-degree murder petitioned Judge Jack Hurley to allow their client to undergo a psychological evaluation, according to Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Lee.
Dexter Bogle, 19, of Pocahontas was arrested on charges of second-degree murder on June 14 after the fatal shooting of Roby White, 62, also of Pocahontas the previous day.
Bogle’s bond was again denied by Judge Hurley, but the judge allowed a psychological examination, as requested by the defense, to determine if Bogle is competent to stand trial, according to Lee.
Lee said a psychological examination could take around six weeks, depending on the facility where it is conducted.
