WAR —
Arrests were made Thursday after an investigation by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department and a local task force yielded a meth lab in an abandoned trailer.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force acted on a tip and found an active meth lab in an abandoned trailer in the War area, according to a sheriff’s department press release issued late Thursday evening.
The trailer was in the William Pokey Hill area of War. Timothy Harrison Stone, no age available, of War was charged with operating a clandestine lab and felony conspiracy. Donald Martin Simpkins, no age available, of War was also arrested and charged with operating a clandestine lab and felony conspiracy.
A meth lab was seized and the case is still being investigated, according to deputies. This is the second time Timothy Stone was arrested for operating a meth lab within the year and he was currently out on bond.

The trial of Earl Click, the man who was charged along with his sister, Rebecca Lynn Hatcher, with the July 17, 2012 murder of Dr. Thomas Hatcher, mayor of War, has been continued according to the McDowell County prosecuting attorney’s office. The trial had been scheduled to start on Monday.
