SPRINGVILLE, Va. —
Deputies and detectives with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are continuing their search for a male suspect who allegedly shot a local man after enter his home.
Christopher “Shane” Tibbs, 41, of 259 Melrose Street was shot once in the upper back with his own .22 caliber revolver, said Sheriff Brian Hieatt. Tibbs told investigators that he was in his basement when he heard a noise and investigated, and discovered an intruder who had found the pistol. Tibbs told detectives that the intruder – described as a male in camouflage and wearing a mask – shot him, dropped the weapon and fled on foot. Searchers are now checking nearby fields and wooded areas for evidence.
Tibbs was taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center, and was in good condition, Hieatt stated.
“It looks like he’s going to be there for a couple of day,” he said.
