WELCH —
Authorities in McDowell County confirmed this morning that two people died in a house fire in the Newhall community.
The West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the blaze.
Firefighters were dispatched to a Newhall residence approximately 6 p.m. Monday, according to a dispatcher with McDowell County 911.
Chief Deputy Mark Shelton of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department said this morning that two residents of the home, “a male and a female,” died in the blaze. The victims’ names were not being released at this time. The fire’s cause is now under investigation.
