WYTHEVILLE, Va. —
The presidential campaign is coming to deep Southwest Virginia.
Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to appear Tuesday at Spiller Elementary School in Wytheville at 4:15 p.m., the Obama-Biden campaign announced today.
“President Obama and Vice President Biden believe the only way to create an economy built to last is to build it from the middle out, not from the top down,” a press release from the Obama-Biden campaign, said. “Vice President Biden will discuss the choice voters in Virginia have in this election — a choice between these two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs, and pay down the debt.”
Biden also is scheduled to speak Tuesday at noon at McComas Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
Tickets for the events are available on a first come, first serve basis, according to the campaign.
Republican challenger Mitt Romney has not yet scheduled an appearance in Tazewell, Buchanan, Bland, Wythe, Giles or Montgomery counties.
Virginia is considered a battleground state in the race for president.
