AFTERNOON UPDATE - Freezing rain possible on Wednesday, Thursday
BLUEFIELD – A possibility for some freezing rain exists for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, but not enough to be considered an actual ice storm, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
A “light glaze” of freezing rain is possible during the hours of Wednesday night and Thursday morning, but a quarter inch of ice is necessary for an ice storm to bring down trees and power lines. Slick bridges, overpasses, and ice on untreated roads is possible.
