More contributions pour in for Community Christmas Tree party
BLUEFIELD — Contributions to the Community Christmas Tree continued to soar Friday with donations of $3,343.
That brings this year’s total-to-date to $28,996. The campaign surpassed this year’s goal of $25,000 on Thursday. Plans are now being finalized for Tuesday’s big party at the Bluefield City Auditorium on Stadium Drive.
Sponsored by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the Community Christmas Tree program provides a gift bag filled with toys, fruit, a treat, a book, a pair of gloves and a toboggan to hundreds of area children each year.
This year’s party will be held Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Bluefield City Auditorium on Stadium Drive.
Those who would like to contribute to the Community Christmas Tree program can mail donations to: Bluefield Daily Telegraph, c/o Community Christmas Tree, P.O. Box 1599, Bluefield, W.Va., 24701 or drop them off at the Daily Telegraph office on Bluefield Avenue. Checks should be made payable to the Community Christmas Tree Fund.
