GRUNDY, Va. — High winds forced Gov. Timothy M. Kaine to cancel scheduled announcements Wednesday morning in Tazewell and Buchanan counties.
However, the ceremony planned in Buchanan County went on as scheduled with the announcement of the creation of more than 250 new jobs through Sykes Enterprises.
A ceremony planned at Abbs Valley-Boissevain Elementary School will be rescheduled, according to Lauren Cunningham, a spokeswoman for Kaine.
The governor was scheduled to congratulate the school on their recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. The school also received the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence in 2007 and 2008.
