ENGLISH — State police in McDowell County arrested four men early Wednesday morning on felony conspiracy, first degree robbery, assault during the commission of a robbery as well as misdemeanor charges related to the robbery of a Tazewell County, Va., man Tuesday night.
Senior Trooper J.S. McCarty of the Welch detachment of the West Virginia State Police said that one of the men — an acquaintance of the victim — lured the victim to the English area under the premise of wanting a ride. When the two men reached the English, three other men emerged, physically assaulted the victim, and stole money from the man at knife-point.
McCarty and Cpl. C.F. Kane arrested all four suspects — Danny Ray Payne II, 21, of Rasal, Bobby Stacy, 36, of Lexington, N.C., Eric Hale, 32, of Welch, and James Payne, 32, of Kodak, Tenn. — early Wednesday morning. The suspects were arraigned before McDowell County Magistrate Steve Cox who set bond at $100,000 each. All four are incarcerated at Southwest Regional Jail .
