AFTERNOON UPDATE — Colder air, snow, expected by Thursday night

BLUEFIELD - The extended holiday forecast is calling for colder weather and a chance for snow.

A dusting of snow is possible by Friday morning for the region, Ken Kostura, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va., said.

“We are looking at rain on Thanksgiving Day,” Kostura said. “There will be showers especially during the afternoon hour. Those showers will continue into the evening hours. What will happen after midnight is a mix of rain and snow. The temperature is going to make all the difference as far as the accumulation. The ground is still kind of warm.”
