AFTERNOON UPDATE: Salvation Army distributes Thanksgiving dinners

BLUEFIELD – Turkey, pumpkin pie and all the trimmings for a Thanksgiving dinner were distributed today by the Salvation Army so families and friends can get together for the holiday.

More than 200 families in Mercer, McDowell and Tazewell counties will receive assistance this Thanksgiving, said Capt. Jerry Lester of the Salvation Army in Bluefield.
