After a weekend in which seven of the 12 area teams still playing lost in the opening round of the playoffs, five teams were left standing. Two of those, Richlands and Haysi, didn’t play last week.
They all hope to still be going after this weekend.
Both Bluefield and PikeView in West Virginia, and the Virginia duo of Richlands and Graham will be involved in playoff games tonight.
Bluefield will travel to Sherman, while PikeView takes the five-hour voyage to Frankfort. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
In Virginia, Richlands will host Marion, while Graham travels to Cave Spring in rematches from earlier this season. The only difference is these games will be in different venues, with both starting at 7:30 p.m.
The fifth area team still playing, Haysi, will travel to John I. Burton on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. Region D, Division 1 semifinal contest.
For reports on all these games, see Saturday’s Daily Telegraph.
