AFTERNOON UPDATE: City of Bluefield earns clean community award
BLUEFIELD — Officials in the city of Bluefield learned Friday that Bluefield is one of six communities statewide to receive designation as a West Virginia Make it Shine Clean Community.
Travis Cooper, coordinator of the program through the Department of Environmental Protection’s REAP program said he had visited Make it Shine meetings in Bluefield, and that he “was real impressed” by all of the activities taking place in Bluefield by citizens and city employees who are working to make the city a cleaner place.
