ABBS VALLEY, Va. — Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the death of a man who apparently died as a result of injuries he received in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday night on State Route 644, about .2 of a mile from the intersection with Route 784.

The victim, whose remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Roanoke, Va., was traveling westbound on Route 644, about .2 of a mile from the intersection with Route 784 when his vehicle ran off the road, struck an embankment, overturned and caught on fire, according to the report of the accident filed late Wednesday by Trooper M.J. “We are awaiting positive identification from the medical examiner’s office before we release any additional information,” Nelson said. State Police dispatchers received the report of the accident at 11:45 p.m., Wednesday night.
