EVENING UPDATE: Mercer and Giles authorities join forces to arrest suspect

CAMP CREEK — One suspect is behind bars, but another suspect remained at large Friday in connection with a breaking and entering of a Giles County store on Oct. 11. Two suspects were caught on video surveillance taking about $2,600 worth of cigarettes from the store. The two gained access by backing a pickup truck through the front doors.

Kimberly April Rhoten, 46, of Camp Creek was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant by Mercer County Sheriff’s deputies. The Mercer deputies were assisting Lt. Ron Hamlin of the Giles County Sheriff’s Office who has been investigating a breaking and entering at the Super Value store in Newport, Va., on U.S. Route 460.
