PRINCETON — Three Mercer County men have been indicted in connection with a pair of summertime armed robberies near Princeton.
The October 2008 session of the Mercer County Grand Jury issued indictments in the case of Derek Ramon Jenkins, 30, and Corey Lamont Thornhill, 29, both of Bluefield, and Derrick Bradley Carr, 20, of Princeton.
Jenkins, Thornhill and Carr each face two counts of robbery-first degree and a count of conspiracy, according to the grand jury indictments.
The first robbery occurred July 10 at the Blue Flash Convenience Store along Sandlick Road near Montcalm. An undisclosed amount of money was taken when a suspect displayed a firearm, according to court records.
A second robbery was reported Aug. 20 at the Blue Flash store along Meadowfield Lane outside Princeton. Like the July 10 robbery, money was allegedly stolen after a firearm was brandished.
A conviction for armed robbery-first degree carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. Conspiracy can result in a one to five year sentence, a $10,000 fine or both.
Jenkins, Thornhill and Lash are currently free on bond.
Docket day at the Mercer County Courthouse is scheduled for Oct. 27. People who have been indicted must appear at 9:30 a.m.
