WARDELL, Va. — A Tazewell County teenager died Sunday afternoon as a result of injuries he received in a motorcycle/pickup truck accident on Kents Ridge Road in the Wardell Section.
Chase Brandon Stilwell, 19, of Richlands, Va., was traveling eastbound on State Route 609 (Kents Ridge Road) when he apparently lost control of his 2006 Suzuki GS500, crossed the center lane and collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck, according to a report filed by Trooper M.J. Nelson of the Virginia State Police.
The accident occurred at 1:20 p.m., on Rt. 609, about 100 feet east of the intersection with State Route 814. Nelson’s report indicated that the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
A trooper from Buchanan County, Va., who specialized in accident reconstruction was at the scene of the accident Sunday afternoon to take preliminary measurements, and is expected to return today to complete his portion of the investigation, a state police dispatcher said.
The victim was transported to Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands where he was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m., according to Nelson’s report. There were no other injuries reported in the accident.
