SALEM, Va. — A Montcalm man was being sought Monday in connection with the shooting death of a Mercer County man in Craig County, Va.
Craig County Sheriff’s deputies found 53-year-old Gary Samuel Williams of Bluefield dead along the side of Virginia 600 at approximately 8:40 p.m. Saturday, March 15, according to a statement released by the Virginia State Police.
Williams died as the result of a gunshot wound to the chest, investigators said.
Arrest warrants for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony were obtained for Danny Lee Johnson, 58, of Montcalm. No definitive motive had been established Monday and the investigation is continuing.
The investigation is being conducted by the Virginia State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of the Salem Field Office in Salem, Va. The Craig County Sheriff’s Depart-ment and the West Virginia State Police are assisting in the case.
