BLUEFIELD —
A new parking lot on the site of the former Scott Street Parking Garage is still set to open in the spring despite some construction delays.
City Manager Jim Ferguson said even with the construction delays the parking lot wouldn’t be able to open until asphalt could be laid on the site in the spring. Ferguson said uneven ground delayed crews by a week as they worked to construct a handrail on a staircase leading from the lot to the Kee Federal Building.
Ferguson said 65 new parking spaces will be constructed in the lot, though many will be reserved for businesses downtown like First Century Bank.
