PRINCETON —
Friday morning was a busy time for the Princeton Police Department when officers eradicated an estimated $500,000 worth of marijuana plants.
“It was about 9:30 this morning,” said Officer B.E. Grimm of the Princeton Police Department. “We got a total of 277 (plants) all together.”
The plants were found at Shopview Avenue in the Roundhouse Road area, Grimm said.
“They were actually toward the Boxley Concrete Plant area, over the side of the hill,” he said.
Grimm said the plants were discovered while he was conducting some surveillance work in the area, watching for new traffic and other activities.
“I was patrolling on foot, just looking around and happened to stumble across it,” he recalled. “I had actually seen an individual run down into the woods in that area. I went in the next day, spent an hour looking around and came across it.”
No arrests were made Friday, but the case is still under investigation.
“I’m looking at a few people, but no single one in particular right now,” he said.
Grimm said other patches of marijuana may still be within the city.
“I’d be willing to bet on it,” he said.
