BLAND, Va. —
A Tazewell County man facing a murder charge in North Carolina waived extradition today back to that state after appearing before a Bland County judge.
Joshua Robert Berry, 28, of Tazewell, Va. appeared for a hearing in Bland County General District Court before Judge Gino Williams. During that hearing, Berry waived extradition to North Carolina. Berry faces charges of murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in the May 25 murder of Donald Claude Arnder. Arnder was shot during a robbery at Eddie’s Zip Foods in Mt. Airy, NC.
Berry was a suspect in the April 13 robbery of the Kangaroo Express in Bland, Va. Charges relating to that incident were dropped.
The court also dropped charges on a co-defendant in that case, Sarah Lynn Berry, 24, of Bluefield, according to information at the General District Court Clerk’s Office. Sarah Lynn Berry was not being extradited to North Carolina.
Both suspects are being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail in Pulaski, Va.
