AFTERNOON UPDATE — Sewer rates increasing in Mercer

GREEN VALLEY — Customers of the Green Valley Glenwood Public Service District will see an increase in their sewer bills effective May 1.

However, the rate increase requested by the Green Valley Glenwood Public Service District, and approved by the West Virginia Public Service Commission, is minimal. An average residential customer will see their bill increase by 1.51 percent, or 52 cents, per average bill.

“It’s very small,” PSD General Manager Marty Mariotti said. “We raised it exactly what we were raised — where another utility is raising their (rates) that is providing treatment for us. The Princeton Sanitary Board raised their rates — so we had to raise ours. “
