AFTERNOON UPDATE — Webb, Warner announce funds for Bland clinic

BLAND, Va. — U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., and U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., announced Tuesday the award of federal stimulus funding to the Bland County Medical Clinic in Bastian.

The two lawmakers said the Bland County clinic will receive $445,685 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

In all, Webb and Warner announced the award of $13.5 million in grant funding for 24 community health centers in Virginia to maintain facilities and improve services.

Webb and Warner said the grants will be used by health centers to address immediate and pressing health center facility and equipment needs and increase access to health care for an increasing number of patients who lack health insurance during the current economic downturn.
