MONTCALM — Voting ends at midnight tonight to decide which West Virginia student will win a college scholarship. A Montcalm High School student hopes she will be the one.
Brooke Alexandra Bailey. 16, is an upcoming senior at MHS, is working to garner enough votes to win a scholarship at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon. Bailey is competing against a dozen other students from across the state for the four-year tuition and fees scholarship.
She checked her total ballots Friday. As of 2 p.m. that day, 2,946 people had voted for her.
“I’ve jumped to first place, that’s for sure,” she said. “I’m almost 600 ahead of second place.”
Anyone who wants to vote for Brooke A. Bailey can visit the web address www.wvscholar.com. Voters will receive an e-mail asking them to confirm their choice. All votes must be in by midnight tonight. Winners will be announced June 23.
