AFTERNOON UPDATE — Teachers of the Year announced in Tazewell County
TAZEWELL, Va. — The Tazewell County School Board is continuing a tradition of honoring three “Teachers of the Year.”
This year’s winners are Pam Cannoy, a first-grade teacher at Abbs Valley-Boisseveain Elementary; Bethany Carr, a math teacher at Richlands Middle School; and Shirley Beisel, a guidance counselor at Tazewell High School.
“Each year, each school nominates a teacher from their school, and then a committee here at the central office goes through those nominations and chooses an elementary, middle and high school winner,” Assistant School Superintendent Christine Kinser said. “It is always a difficult process because everyone who is nominated is certainly deserving, and we are certainly pleased with the three that were chosen this year.”
