BLUEFIELD —
A raccoon found on Princeton Avenue in Bluefield has tested positive for rabies, the Mercer County Health Department announced today.
A person who was exposed to the raccoon is now undergoing treatment, said Doris Irwin, RN, of the health department. This person was bitten while trying to intervene between a dog and the raccoon.
Anyone who has been bitten by a raccoon or who is concerned that their pet may have had contact with one should contact the health department at 304-324-8367.
