BLACKSBURG, Va. —
A Virginia university and a major coal producer have teamed up to explore technology that could reduce carbon emissions by storing carbon dioxide underground in Buchanan County, Va.
Representatives of CONSOL and Virginia Tech’s Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research recently met with the Buchanan County Board of Supervisors to explain the project and its significance to the public. Plans call for injecting and storing as much as 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide into underlying coal seams, according to Virginia Tech officials.
For more about the test project and its possible uses, read Wednesday’s Daily Telegraph or visit www.bdtonline.com.
