PRINCETON —
Road crews and sunshine continue to clear ice and snow off highways after a major storm Thursday, but highway authorities in Virginia and West Virginia are warning motorists to beware of black ice this evening and Saturday morning.
Snow and ice melted by today’s warmer weather could freeze tonight and create slick road conditions, said District 10 Highways Manager Tom Camden of the West Virginia Department of Highways in Mercer County.
In Virginia, officials with the Virginia Department of Highways were also warning motorists to watch for black ice as temperatures drop this evening.
“Just because a road looks black doesn’t mean it’s clear,” Camden said.
