Water service coming to Bramwell area residents

BRAMWELL — A local public service district has announced its intention to begin a project that will bring public water service to 72 residents in the Bramwell and Windmill Gap areas.

On Dec. 31, 2012, the Bluewell Public Service District filed an application for a certificate of convenience and necessity from the Public Service Commission of West Virginia. This project will provide a waterline extension for the Bramwell Hill/Coaldale Mountain area and replace waterlines for the Windmill Gap area of Mercer County.

“It’s been in the works for years,” Mayor Louise Stoker of Bramwell said today after hearing news of the application. “It would be marvelous for the people on Bramwell Hill to finally have public water. They have waited so long.”

Bramwell Hill households often have to bring water to their homes by truck and store it in cisterns, Stoker said.
