The National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va., has issued a winter weather advisory for Mercer and Bland counties.
The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. tonight to 4 p.m. Saturday. It calls for a mixture of snow and sleet. The snow could be wet and heavy. It is expected to mix with sleet.
Between 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible tonight, according to the advisory.
A mix of snow and rain is expected for Saturday before the precipitation changes back to all snow Saturday night. Snow also is expected for late New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
