BLUEFIELD —
Between 1 to 3 inches of snow along with ice and freezing rain is possible late tonight and early Tuesday morning, according to a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va.
The advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday impacting Mercer, Monroe, Tazewell, Bland, and Giles counties. A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected particularly along the Interstate 81 corridor early Tuesday. The highest amounts of precipitation are expected in the mountains.
Roads could be slick and hazardous during the event as temperatures are expected to fall well below freezing, according to the advisory. Wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour are also possible.
